Join us in June as we recognize National Indigenous History Month and National Indigenous Peoples Day through educational and celebratory opportunities.

Throughout the month of June, the Barrie Public Library will host a number of exciting events in partnership with the Mamaway Wiidokdaadwin Primary Care Team from the Barrie Area Native Advisory Circle, the Barrie Native Friendship Centre, Red Quills, and the Métis and First Nations community.

We are coming back in 2023! The Georgian College Auto exhibition is the largest outdoor auto exhibition in North America. Automotive Business students coordinate and host the event on the Barrie Campus.

The exhibiting manufacturers are Acura, Barrie Harley-Davidson, Ford, FCA, GM, Honda, Hyundai, Lincoln, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, Toyota, Volkswagen, and Volvo.

National Indigenous Peoples’ Day 2023

Each year, Huronia Historical Parks hosts a celebration centered on education in honor of Indigenous peoples’ accomplishments. Due to the significance of the summer solstice as the longest day of the year, many Indigenous tribes have honored their culture and heritage on or near this day for decades. Since 1996, this date has been officially observed across the country.
